Edible Landscape

Edible landscaping is the creation of yards, gardens, farms and forests with species that produce fruits for human or animal consumption into a regenerative and resilient design. These landscapes are often known as food forests, and imitate wild ecosystems that have evolve to be self-sustainable, productive, and extremely diverse. The more diverse is an ecosystem, the more resilient become to survive and thrive in front of catastrophic change. Choosing plants of different climate zones, size, maturity times, functions, and lifespan, will create a garden that builds soil, with multiple layers, and yield high amounts of crops. We also encourage the interaction of animals and plants, creating systems that will sustain the life of wild and farm animals like the chickens and cows in this picture from a farm in Central Ohio.
